Tribute to Dr. Kawasaki

I am so impressed as to how great a clinician and researcher
Dr. Kawasaki was. In his original paper with 50 KD patients published in 1967 in “Arerugi” in Japanese, he presented case by case details of every observable aspect of the disease along with carefully described clinical course figures, laboratory test tables and pathological photos. Also it is obvious in his work how much he cared about each and every one of his patients. His keen eye, methodical and meticulous approach to this then new disease continually amazes me. Even now, I sometimes find the answers to my questions in his original paper. In the international meeting, Dr. Kawasaki always welcomed me with his big smile. He will be missed greatly.
